Before 3 months I recieved 3 units from Lowrance company in Dubai to test the compatibility of UAE & Oman off-Road map with them; the units are:

• Endura Safari
• Endura Out&Back
• Elite-5M

The first impression of the Endura Safari that it is a rigged unit ,the boddy is rubber coated, it has a bright and clear display, and can be operated by touch screen or buttons.

The unit will boot in 30 seconds if there is no map's card in the MicroSD slot, in that case it requires 20 seconds more, that is typical for a windows CE operated system.

The GPS fix requires more time than Garmin handheld but it has superior track accuracy and with better GPS reciever sensitivity, that leads to better fix when using the unit in a deep valley or under trees.

4000 way points, 500 routes and 100 plotted trails, that is absolutely superior, only the new Garmin montana can stores that much of information.

This unit can be powered by 2AA batteries with average operating time 10 to 15 hours, and that will vary depending on usage conditions.
