Masarat UAE and Oman off road map
« on: December 08, 2011, 01:37:35 PM »
Help!

I have a problem with this product.

Firstly, a lot of the labels for routes, POI's, routes etc. are in Arabic. The box says it's English and Arabic, but having a lot of the labels only in Arabic is of no use to me.

The other problem is: How do I plan a route/ trip on my PC? This software is not compatible with Mapsource.

Perhaps this company should get some tips from "Tracks for Africa" - that is a good product.

Hi Ankar,

It is not a matter of compatibility, it is the matter of copyrights, Garmin owns Mapsource and don't allow third party to use it commercially, even Tracks4Africa, they are a third party and they are not allowed to use mapsource.

I like Tracks4Africa, they are successful, their maps information come from their community, and their community are supporting them, we are on the same way.

There is 2 versions of this map, one in Arabic and one in English, so if you purchased by mistake the Arabic version, we will replace it for you with the English one.

if you purchase it after 1st December 2011, then the 2 languages are included in the same memory card, there is a readme.txt file in the card itself, which explains how to switch between English and Arabic.

if you want to plan routes using your PC, then you will need a PC software. Garmin offers the following softwares:

Mapsource, Homeport & RoadTrip.

Please check this link: http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/cache/offonce/us/maps/tripplanningsoftware

You can also use Basecamp for free  http://www.garmin.com/us/products/onthetrail/basecamp

Also there is a lot of third party software to plan routes using PC, some are commercial and others are free, I'll try to list some links in this topic later.

If you need more help with this issue, please email to support[at]masarat-gps[dot]com
